In partnership with the Town of Gawler, we are supporting the Gawler Connect project to restore the Town Hall and Institute Building, both significant State Heritage listed buildings from  the  1870s.  The  restoration  of  these  buildings will return these important  civic  spaces  to  their  original  splendour  and provide  a  suitable  home  to  house  the  town’s extensive heritage collections. Gawler Connect is an exciting proposed concept with its key aim to rejuvenate Gawler’s Town Hall, Institute and subsequently, the Main Street of Gawler into an Arts, Cultural and Community Hub.

The proposed project will create a ‘Smart’ Library, Youth Lounge & Multi Media Performance Space, Cultural Heritage Gallery and Heritage Research Centre, Community Arts Space, a new National Broadband Network Co Office and Business Incubator Centre, as well as a street-front Information Centre and Café, with multi-purpose spaces available for community use. The activation of these spaces would see two buildings integrated into one, with unused areas refurbished and opened up. This project, when realised, will deliver a crucially needed modern regional community centre right in the heart of Gawler, the major service town for the Barossa region.
