Hand Vice

60 Objects Caine Tool Collection

This hand vice has been identified by members of the Hand Tool Preservation Association of Australia Inc. as being one of the most important tools in the collection bequested by Thomas Caine. Caine was a skilled carpenter and joiner, whose collection represented ‘3 or 4 generations of craftsman’s work.’ * He spent his life acquiring hand-tools and amassed many rare and significant items until his death in 1969.

This vice creates a secure grip using a wingnut to place pressure on the jaws to close around a held object.
