Convict History of Wisemans Ferry

Visit the the Old Great North Road, and Hangmans Rock, to understand the rich Heritage hidden amongst natures beauty at Dharug National Park

Join your Volunteer Guide to learn about the incredibly tough conditions and hardship that the road gang convicts of the early 19th century endured. Visit 2 very different sites within Dharug National Park, as we step back in time, listening to stories of suffering, adventure and humour. We visit the Wisemans Ferry historic “Stockade” which accommodated the convicts building, on the Great North Road. We will then visit “Devines Hill” to see the incredible workmanship of the convicts and the dramatic “Hangman’s Rock”.
