Camden – birthplace of the Australian wine, wool and dairy industries

Camden library will display historic photographs of the area depicting the themes of 'Wine, Wool and Dairy'. The photos will be hung in the Fiction section of the library. Textile artist, Venessa Possum will exhibit original works made to celebrate the life of her indigenous ancestor "Budberry" who was an aboriginal elder as well as friend and guide to the Macarthur family. There will be a Mini Discoverers Storytime on 7 May where preschool children will participate in craft and stories relating to Camden's history. A tour of our Camden Museum will follow where the children can experience "hands -on" related artifacts and implements such as those used to spin wool and make butter etc. There will be associated activities for older children such as a Camden history-themed puzzle booklet.

The photo and art displays will be available for viewing during library opening times. Mon, Wed, Fri 9.30am - 5 pm; Tues and Thurs 9.30 am -8pm and Sat 9am - 12 noon.
The Mini Discoverers Story time and Museum tour takes place on 7 May at 11 am.
