Afternoon Tea with the President & Gallery Tour (National Trust members only)
National Trust members are invited to an exclusive event with the President of the National Trust (NSW) on Friday 17 May 2019. Join Brian Powyer for afternoon tea at Observatory Hill, followed by a private tour of the Salon des Refuses exhibition at the S.H. Ervin Gallery with gallery Director, Jane Watters.
This special members only event is part of the Australian Heritage Festival, which runs nationally until 19 May with the aim of bringing communities together to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural, natural and built heritage of Australia. Our tea and tour event starts at 3pm with refreshments in the heritage-listed National Trust Centre, where attendees can meet Brian Powyer, President of the National Trust (NSW) and also meet S.H. Ervin Gallery Director, Jane Watters, who will provide an expert guided tour of the Salon des Refuses exhibition. You will hear an update from the President on upcoming news across the National Trust (NSW) including a talk on the topic: Why Heritage Is Important For Our National Identity.
The Salon des Refuses is an exhibition initiated by the S.H. Ervin Gallery in 1992 in response to the large number of works entered into the Archibald Prize that were not selected for display. Its reputation rivals the selections in the ‘official’ exhibition, with works selected for quality, diversity, humour and experimentation, and which examine contemporary art practices, different approaches to portraiture and responses to the landscape.
Tickets are $22 with limited places available. BUY ONLINE.
